Student Study Aides

Tool: Adobe Firefly. Prompt: “Create an anime-style image of a student studying for an exam in a library at night”

Our students might struggle with preparing for summative assessments, such as midterms or final exams. However, we can help and support our students by providing study aides. Generative AI can develop effective and meaningful study aides that align with your content and assessments, challenge students to engage in critical thinking, and better support and equip our students.

Preparation

As you look ahead to your assessment, you must ensure that it effectively aligns with and measures the learning objectives or outcomes you have set. In addition, you should have developed the assessment in question. With the materials ready and available, you can begin prompting generative AI to produce a study aide for your students!

Ingredients

  • Assessment you would like for a study aide to be made for
  • Additional materials or resources, such as lecture slideshows or notes, that could play a role in the assessment in question

Try this prompt in the AI-app of your choice:

Attach or copy and paste the assessment (as well as any other materials or resources you would like to share) to your prompt, and then write the following: “I would like to develop a study aide for students as they prepare for a [insert type of assessment, such as a midterm or final exam]. This study aide should provide a comprehensive and helpful structure for students as they prepare for the assessment without “spoiling” any of the questions. Please include the following as part of the study aide: [Insert your desired type of study aide, such as flash cards, guiding questions, an outline, and so on].”
